Southwood Waste Management has been established as a waste
disposal company for over 20 years. We have a transfer station
where waste is sorted into recyclable and non-recyclable materials.
The Transfer station sorting systems are constantly under
review to cope with the ever increasing volume of waste coming
from trade and industry in general.
Southwood has invested heavily in the latest technology to
increase our efficiency and to keep up with the levels of
waste handled. This helps us keep the cost down to the customer.
The more waste that can be recycled back into industry the
more we protect our environment and conserve valuable resources.
Our professional staff and fully experienced drivers are dedicated
to providing clients with tailor made services to meet customers
needs
SOCIAL POLICY
Southwood Waste Management considers
human capital to be one of the most valued assets in reaching
the levels of recycling and responsible waste management.
A good standard of skill, experience and training makes the
company stand out against others and allows the company to
illustrate leadership in the industry, whilst also offering
a fast, effective and reliable customer service.
The company has a high standard of Health
and Safety at the site and employees are encouraged to give
their feedback on any areas for further improvement. The workplace
is well catered for and uses state of the art systems to control
site safety, cleanliness and efficiency.
Design aspects are key to operational
well being, creating an environment with low levels of accidents
and near-misses. All external impacts (mainly noise and aesthetic
value) from the site to the neighbouring dwellings and businesses
are monitored regularly and mitigated under the Environmental
Protection Act, 1990.
SWM support a wide range of local charities
and organisations for events, sponsorship, inward investment,
community developments and specific needs. Although the company
landfills a very small amount of the materials entering the
site (mainly Special Waste), it contributes to Landfill Tax
that supports research and development into expanding markets
for recycled products as well as community regeneration projects.
